Our Two Boards
Hands of Christ Deaf Ministry is operated under the supervision of two boards: the Administrative Board, which takes care of the financial and business needs of the Ministry, and the Spiritual Board, which sees to the worship and fellowshipping needs of the group.
Pastor Gisele, in addition to her many responsibilities with the Deaf Ministry, is also the pastoral advisor to the Spiritual Board.
The Administrative Board is made up of two representatives from each of the Christian denominations that currently support the Hands of Christ Deaf Ministry. These denominations are:
- Diocese of Fond du Lac (Episcopal)
- Lutheran (ELCA)
- United Methodist
- Presbyterian
- United Church of Christ
The Administrative Board oversees the budget, policies, and other details of keeping the ministry running smoothly. There are monthly meetings, and updates are regularly reported back to the Spiritual Board by a representative of the Administrative Board.
The Spiritual Board
The mission of the Hands of Christ Deaf Ministry Spiritual Board is "to serve and spread the good news of Jesus in church and beyond in sign language." We aim to bring Deaf Christians to a deeper faith in Jesus Christ. The board members are Deaf. Meetings are held monthly, overseen by Pastor Gisele Berninghaus. The Spiritual Board organizes activities like retreats, Bible Studies, and Vacation Bible School to help bring people closer to God.
Two members of the Spiritual Board attend the meetings of the Administrative Board to share information on how the ministry is doing.
The Hands of Christ Deaf Ministry is made up of dedicated, Christ-centered people who strive to find new ways to help Deaf and hard of hearing people discover God in their lives. When there is an activity or if someone has a question about the ministry or its services, a Spiritual Board member can help.
